Application Master’s Degree Programme

All applicants will be informed in writing on the outcome of their admission request. Final matricultation completes the admission procedure for admitted candidates. If you live or work in Switzerland, you can find this on your AHV card or on your CH health insurance card. If you have not received a social security number yet, you can still proceed with your application. Once your payment has been registered, you can download via the Uniportal your confirmation of matriculation and revalidate your Campus Card. If you would like to leave the University of Lucerne, please exmatriculate yourself via UniPortal.

The UZH Card and proof-of-matriculation vouchers will be sent to you separately by regular mail. If you have any questions about your application or need support, please contact Student Administration Office or Admissions Office. A thesis proposal should be submitted that describes your research project.

Make sure you’ll be reachable at the specified e-mail address during the entire admissions process, and keep a safe record of the username you have been sent. At the Bachelor’s level, only certain degree programs allow you to start your studies in the spring semester. Please note that the questions for the Student Personal Data Form are activated in the online application portal from 15 November at the earliest for the spring semester and from 15 June for the autumn semester. Please note that you can only book modules online once you have paid your semester fees and received your login data for online services. Once you’ve activated your user account, you can log in and start filling out the online application form anytime. They must, however, demonstrate a sufficient level of knowledge of the Italian language and reach Celi3 level by the end of their first year of study. If you fail to pay your semester fees by the deadline, you will be withdrawn from the University by the UZH.

Your complete application will be assessed by a committee of professors who will evaluate, in particular, your academic performance, letters of recommendation and motivation letter. The application for the joint master’s degree program Computational Biology and Bioinformatics must be done via ETH Zurich. The International Baccalaureate Supplementary Application must be completed by candidates applying to 11th grade who wish to pursue the IB Diploma. For administrative reasons, applications to SUPSI must be made by 15 April 2022, while applications to the Cantonal Authorities for foreigners, together with the required documents, must be received by the SUPSI Executive by 30 June 2022.

Specialized Masters Programs Or Phd Programs

Students applying for Mobility within Switzerland do not have to pay any application fee. Applicants for a specialized Master’s programor for a PhD program are required to pre-register with the respective institute or graduate school before applying through the UZH application portal. For information about the pre-registration and pre-registration deadlines please refer to the websites of the institutes and graduate schools. You will be requested to pay a first amount of CHF 3’000 net of bank charges within the deadlines set in the admission letter and the tuition fees invoice. All complete applications will be assessed by the MEIG Executive Committee. The Executive Committee of the programme may at any time require applicants to provide further information, in addition to the documents submitted as part of the application.

You will be guided through the application, admission and enrolment process. If you’ll continue your study at the University of Lucerne at Master’s level in the same subject, you won’t have to register for the Master Study once more. You will be enrolled further by paying the bill for the semester fees. The study level will be changed after the graduation ceremony of your Bachelor’s Degree.
